Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY.

A wise grandmother once told me to forgive the users and takers in the world for they have taught you a lesson not to be used or taken. But she also said “Without compassion forgiveness does not work. Today may I start by forgiving myself?
---------------------------------

Forgiveness.

At this time around the time around the Winter Solstice, Christmas and the New Year there is a natural resonance that is resplendent with the song of Forgiveness. It is a quality of Spirit easily accessed, embodied, activated and experienced. Forgiveness is the key in which the song of life is sung at the Winter Solstice, just as Appreciation is at the time of the Summer Solstice.Forgiveness is, however, not something we do. It is not something we offer to another (nor our own Self). Forgiveness is a state of being, a frequency at which our Soul resonates when Forgiveness sings its song. When we are in the state of Forgiveness we may hold attention upon the presence of another (or our own Self), embracing that person in Forgiveness. When we are in the state of Forgiveness all that we place our attention upon, in a sincere attitude of acknowledgment and responsibility, dissolves in the burst of Love that comes forth from the relinquishment of our guilt, anger, pain, resentment, grudge or debt. From the release of guilt arises the possibility of apology and atonement. When we release resentment the poison it spreads through our entire interaction with the world is drained, leaving the way for understanding to grow. As we forgive the debts owed us, but never paid - be they financial, emotional or obligations - we are able to let go of betrayal and the fear that unless we are paid in full we will suffer hardship, when, in actuality, if someone has owed you (money or whatever) for over a year, and you are still alive and able to make it through another day/week/month, then really, you no longer truly require the indebted asset to survive. You have, somehow, made it. By relinquishing the grudge of debt you not only free the other party from their suffering, but your own suffering is released as well. After all, if that person could have paid you, if they were capable of it, they would have done so. If they are not capable (and I include the capability of conscience in that), they will never pay you anyway... so let it go! At that point, holding a grudge of debt only promotes you as being 'right', and with it, poisoned with mistrust, resentment, anger and pain. And this helps you how?
For Forgiveness to be active in our life does not require that we announce to the persons we hold in Forgiveness that we have done so (though, sometimes, it is appropriate that we do so). Forgiveness does not require that the other person has asked us to forgive them. It is not relevant as to whether the other person forgives us as well. The burden of judgment and resentment that is strung about the neck of us each is of our own concern and choosing. The guilt and judgment we carry we carry in our own heart. Forgiveness allows us the means of releasing this poison when we are sincere in our acknowledgment of culpability and responsibility. Forgiveness does not make 'OK' a wrong, nor is Forgiveness itself the act of atonement that may be required to reinstate balance. It does not let us 'off the hook'. Forgiveness enables us to no longer be crippled with shame and anger, so that we can embark afresh upon a new course in life, a course charted into the vast ocean of Compassion and a greater availability to the
All-That-Is that we call Life.

Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

My Creator may help me to keep an open mind and loving heart and when I am ready

“Teach Me”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we are young we have a tendency to think we know everything and take the view that those older than ourselves are just “old fogies”. But sometimes we never change and think when we are older we know everything and get set in our ways.

When the realisation comes that we do not know everything we become “teachable”. There is a lot of truth in the old saying, “when the student is ready the teacher appears”. The ancestors are always ready to help and to teach, but we can only hear them when we show humility, respect and are ready to listen. We are then ready for the spiritual lessons to help us grow.

"When you get older and you are ready, your ancestors will show up to guide you."

Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator let us all remember “We are all one Tribe” and without equality, unity, for eternity we will repeat the mistakes of the past.

From the 1927 Grand Council of American Indians
"The white people, who are trying to make us over into their image, they want us to be what they call "assimilated," bringing the Indians into the mainstream and destroying our own way of life and our own cultural patterns. They believe we should be contented like those whose concept of happiness is materialistic and greedy, which is very different from our way.We want freedom from the white man rather than to be integrated.
We don't want any part of the establishment, we want to be free to raise our children in our religion, in our ways, to be able to hunt and fish and live in peace. We don't want power, we don't want to be congressmen, or bankers....we want to be ourselves. We want to have our heritage, because we are the owners of this land and because we belong here. The white man says, there is freedom and justice for all.
We have had "freedom and justice," and that is why we have been almost exterminated.
We shall not forget this."

The souce of all religion

THE SOURCE OF ALL CREATION

IN THE ORIGINAL RELIGION.

The story of Creation from the early Stone Age reveals the source of all religion. If we return to the source we can again connect ourselves with the healing and unifying powers of the Universe. This places us in the right relationship to the Whole. This place is our very own centre in which we are the children of the Earth and the Sun, and be able to live in harmony with the visible and the invisible. The people of the early Stone Age understood and experienced their lives as an integral part of the family of creation amidst all things on the Earth, the plants, the stones and the animals. These relationships allowed them to access freely all powers contained within the Sacred Circle of Life.

Its caretakers, The Native American Shamans, are revealing the primeval religion at this time. It should not be misinterpreted as a super- imposition of their philosophy and way of life on our culture. Their duty was to keep the ancient wisdom within their campfires and to pass it on when the time was right. This time is now. But it was not only Native American wisdom that was to be passed on at this time. Their wisdom was common knowledge to all people at that time, for it is the wisdom from the SOURCE.

In the early religion, the story of creation employs the image of a circle, which possesses the power to cleanse all dogmatic religions of their false and incomplete doctrines. This true religion represents the intact power of reality for us who live in the modern world of separateness, tensions and countless contradictions. It is the natural way for us to explore as it opens up naturally our personal relationship with the Whole and to discover our origin without preconceived ideas and dogmas. Religions that set up dogmas have always needed to rationally explain and prove themselves. It is as if they have to justify their beliefs at the expense of others. Just think about the Crusades or the Inquisition.

If we try to understand the early Stone Age wisdom and the Medicine Wheel as well as ancient Shamanism with only the help of our rational modernistic minds we would fall back into this dogmatic religion and would be unable to honour and respect its oneness and universality. Only when we start to reawaken the fourfold powers of our consciousness will we be able to live in harmony with these forces. These four forces, powers or paths mark our relationship with reality and enable us to be centred within ourselves.

These four paths are commonly referred in Shamanic terms as the Sacred Four and can be seen on the Medicine Wheel above.

: The path of the East is the power of the SPIRIT

: The path of the West is the power of the Will and Body

: The path of the South is the power of the Emotions.

: The path of the North is the power of the Mind

Each one is considered sacred because it heals and leads us to the Whole.

The power of the Medicine Wheel, wherein the sacred four leads us to the centre and the Whole, and outwards to every direction helps us to become whole and completely unfold our consciousness. It is power or medicine to enable us to re-connect the two halves of our brain: the left side that carries our sensory data and governs our waking state, and the right side that produces our dreams and governs our instincts.

The Medicine Wheel lifts the two “homilies” of evolution to a new plane of consciousness by bring together “Homo Fabians” and “Homo Sapiens” resulting in “Homo Divinians”

They compliment Otter people who are opposite them on the Medicine Wheel.

Original peoples call The Salmon "The King of the Sea", and the Sturgeon, "The King of the Lakes". Hence Salmon/ Sturgeon people are somewhat regal in their being and attitudes .Their heart is the source of their strength. They are fearless, with a strong inner strength and have an ability to see through things. They are called the Lovers mainly because they have an ability to love all things, especially the difficult individual. One of their major lessons in life is to "Love to Learn and Learn to Love".Salmon/Sturgeon people are born leaders and love to be the centre of attention. They are active, powerful, courageous, but also having a playful side. They will try their hardest to avoid confrontations, but will fight when cornered. They must curb a tendency to do too much, as well as being too dominant and arrogant

Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

Grandfather’s Pray for Today

Thank you my Creator for allowing me ……

TO WALK THE RED ROAD

Creators Blessings.

Long road winding began in the stars,

spilled onto the mountain tops,

was carried in the snow to the streams,

to the rivers, to the ocean…

It covers Canada, Alaska, America,

Mexico to Guatemala,

and keeps winding around the indigenous peoples.

The Red Road is a circle of people

standing hand in hand,

people in this world, people between

people in the Spirit world.

star people, animal people, stone people,

river people, tree people…

The Sacred Hoop.

To walk the Red Road

is to know sacrifice, suffering.

It is to understand humility.

It is the ability to stand naked before the Creator of all things, for your wrong doings,

for your lack of strength,

for your uncompassionate way,

for your arrogance - because to walk

the Red Road, you always know

you can do better. And you know,

when you do good things,

it is through the Creator, and you are grateful.

To walk the Red Road

is to know you stand on equal ground

with all living things. It is to know that

because you were born human,

it gives you superiority over nothing.

It is to know that every creation carries a Spirit,

and the river knows more than you do,

the mountains know more than you do,

the stone people know more than you do,

the trees know more than you do,

the winds are wiser than you are,

and animal people carry wisdom.

You can learn from every one of them,

because they have something you don’t:

They are void of evil thoughts.

They wish vengeance on no one, they seek Justice.

To Walk the Red Road,

you have God given rights,

you have the right to pray,

you have the right to dance,

you have the right to think,

you have the right to protect,

you have the right to know the Great Mother,

you have the right to dream,

you have the right to vision,

you have the right to teach,

you have the right to learn,

you have the right to understand,

you have a right to grieve,

you have a right to happiness,

you have the right to fix the wrongs,

you have the right to truth,

you have a right to the Spirit World.

To Walk the Red Road

is to know your Ancestors,

to call to them for assistance…

It is to know that there is good medicine,

and there is bad medicine…

It is to know that Evil exists,

but is cowardly as it is often in disguise.

It is to know there are evil spirits

who are in constant watch

for a way to gain strength for themselves

at the expense of you.

To Walk the Red Road,

you have less fear of being wrong,

because you know that life is a journey,

a step by step process,

a continuous circle, a sacred hoop.

Mistakes will be made,

and mistakes can be corrected -

if you will be humble,

for if you cannot be humble,

you will never know

when you have made a mistake.

If you walk the Red Road,

you know that every sorrow

leads to a better understanding,

every horror cannot be explained,

but can offer growth.

To Walk the Red Road

is to look for beauty in all things.

To Walk the Red Road

is to know you will one day,

cross to the Spirit World, and you will not be afraid…

for your sacred journey will continue,

On the Blue Road

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY

I give thanks to you today My Creator for the wisdom and knowledge available to me at the touch of a button. But never let me forget what has gone before.

Interesting Facts about Ancestors

Each person starts with two parents

They have between them 8 Grandparents.

If you go back about 200yrs there are 1000 plus ancestors who are connected through ones D.N.A.

If you count back less than 600 years there are approximately 537,000,000(537 million) ancestors connected to you.

Conclusion;- with the worlds population as it was 600years you can trace your lineage through your D.N.A. to a large proportion of the humans alive then.

So next time you call on the ancestors for help do not get trampled in the rush!

MAY FESTIVAL

MAY FESTIVAL (6th May)and/or Mayday
The Festival of the Northeast

As we continue our yearly cycle around The Shamanic Medicine Wheel, symbolic of the earth's travel around the sun. We arrive at the Festival of the Northeast, The May Festival. At this time our ancestors teach us how we can celebrate with them around the May tree and Maypole. We make garlands of spring flowers and ribbons to decorate the Maytree/Pole and dance and sing around it. Pan, the horned god, makes an appearance to lead us in our dance. He helps us open up our senses to be in tune with the Earth .We become one with the essence of the stone, plant and animal people. We become intoxicated with the wealth of shapes and forms around us, to be enchanted by the nurturing bosom of our Great Earth Mother. She receives all her children into her loving bosom, energising and giving us the renewal of life itself. Heaven and Earth love one another and let us take part in the feast, so that we may discover healing in the Oneness of all beings.
The pulsating sap and the emerging leaves of the May Tree reaches over and touches us and we feel its current, its upward surge from the roots to the crown. Our blood quickens in unison through all our arteries, and its healing green of life envelops us like a blanket of leaves.
We have come to the Maytree with our medicine shields to display and share them with all our companions in the Dance. The Power of Motion, the powers of the Nagual, the sacred nine and nineteen come to us in this Celebration. They shower us with their horn of plenty to move our medicine, to transform it more and more into the healing elixir-- one that will beautify the Earth. Our four shields become round: we dance with them and balance their four lights in all of the four sacred directions.
As we make contact with our older brothers and sisters in the stone, animal and plant kingdoms they help us dive into the world of matter. We listen to the sounds and vibrations of their language; we smell their scents and taste the composition of their Work. The splendours of colours around us streams into our bodies and lets its light shine like a rainbow that arches across Heaven and Earth.

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY

My Creator, I thank you for all the remembering
dreams, for they help me dream of my tomorrows.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am an old woman now. The buffaloes and black-tail deer are gone, and our Indian ways are almost gone. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I ever lived them.

My little son grew up in the white man's school. He can read books, and he owns cattle and has a farm. He is a leader among our Hidatsa people, helping teach them to follow the white man's road.

He is kind to me. We no longer live in an earth lodge, but in a house with chimneys, and my son's wife cooks by a shove.

But for me, I cannot forget our old ways.

Often in summer I rise at daybreak and steal out to the corn fields, and as I hoe the corn I sing to it, as we did when I was young. No one cares for our corn songs now.

Sometimes in the evening I sit, looking out on the big Missouri. The sun sets, and dusk steals over the water. In the shadows I see again to see our Indian village, with smoke curling upward from the earth lodges, and in the river's roar I hear the yells of the warriors, and the laughter of little children of old.

It is but an old woman's dream. Then I see but shadows and hear only the roar of the river, and tears come into my eyes. Our Indian life, I know, is gone forever.

Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

May we always remember that whatever our beliefs are, wherever we live on this planet, and whoever our neighbours are.
We are all part of the human family and
ALL ONE TRIBE

Indigenous Peoples are a significant and important portion of humanity. Their heritage, their ways of life, their stewardship of this planet, and their cosmological insights are an invaluable treasure house for us all.
The word Indigenous has many meanings. In every region of the world, many different cultural groups live together and interact, but not all of these groups are considered indigenous or inherent to their particular geographic area. In fact, it is only in the face of a collective or shared sense of identity that the term indigenous peoples have been internationally recognized.
Indigenous Peoples live in every region of the world. They live in climates ranging from Arctic cold to Amazon heat, and often claim a deep connection to their lands and natural environments. For many indigenous peoples, the natural world is a valued source of food, health, spirituality and identity. Land is both a critical resource that sustains life and a major cause of struggle and even death.
Each indigenous culture is distinct and unique. While many peoples may express similar worldviews and a common indigenous identity, their cultures are nonetheless based on different histories, environments, and creative spirits.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms the inherent dignity, equality, and inalienable rights of all members of the human family. The rights of all members of indigenous populations are included in this declaration. However, Indigenous Peoples also have rights as distinct cultural groups or nations.
"Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect." - Chief Seattle

Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

My Creator, may we all remember that Nature has, is and always will be our greatest teacher!

I was born in Nature's wide domain! The trees were all that sheltered my infant limbs, the blue heavens all that covered me. I am one of Nature's children. I have always admired her. She shall be my glory: her features, her robes, and the wreath about her brow, the seasons, her stately oaks, and the evergreen - her hair, ringlets of earth - all contribute to my enduring love of her.

And wherever I see her, emotions of pleasure roll in my breast, and swell and burst like waves on the shores of the ocean, in prayer and praise to Him who has placed me in her hand, It is thought great to be born in palaces, surrounded with wealth - but to be born in Nature's wide domain is greater still !

I would much more glory in this birthplace, with the broad canopy of heaven above me, and the giant arms of the forest trees for my shelter, than to be born in palaces of marble, studded with pillars of gold! Nature will be Nature still, while palaces shall decay and fall in ruins.

Yes, Niagara will be Niagara a thousand years hence! The rainbow, a wreath over her brow, shall continue as long as the sun and the flowering of the river - while the work of art, however carefully protected and preserved, shall fade and crumble into dust!

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

My Creator it is sad to see that the words of wisdom from ages past are still in the main, true today. Help us all to find the

“PATH OF THE HEART”.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The English, in general, are a noble, generous-minded people, free to act and free to think. They very much pride themselves on their civil and religious privileges; on their learning, generosity, manufacturing, and commerce; and they think that no other man is equal to them ...

No nation, I think, can be more fond of novelties than the English; they gaze upon foreigner as if they had just dropped down from the moon ...

They are truly industrious, and in general very honest and upright. But their close attention to business produces, I think, too much worldly-mindedness, and hence they forget to think enough about their souls and their God.

Their motto seems to be "Money, money, get money, get rich, and be a gentleman," With this sentiment, they fly about in every direction, like a swarm of bees, in search of treasure that lies so near to their hearts.

Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

I pray today My Creator that the exploitation of each other may come to an end and the words “Unity, Equality, for Eternity” may be a rallying cry for all peoples.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
On this land there is a great deal of timber, pine and oak that is much use to the white man. They send it to foreign countries, and it brings them a great deal of money.

On the land there is much grass for cattle and horses, and much food for the hogs.

On this land there is a great deal of tobacco raised, which likewise brings much money. Even the streams are valuable to the white man, to grind the wheat and corn that grows on this land. The pine trees that are dead are valuable for tar.

All these things are lasting benefits. But if the Indians are given just a few goods for their lands, in one or two seasons those goods are all rotted and gone for nothing.

We are told that our lands are of no service to us, but still, if we hold our lands, there will always be a turkey, or a deer, or a fish in the streams for those young who will come after us.

We are afraid if we part with any more of our lands the white people will not let us keep as much as will be sufficient to bury our dead.

Spring Equinox

Happy Equinox to you all
-Hsotha Petre
Grandfather Peter

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE BEARCLAN SCHOOL FOR SHAMANIC STUDIES

THE EIGHT YEARLY FESTIVALS

THE CELEBRATION OF THE EAST (21st MARCH)

SPRING EQUINOX

We are now a month and a half farther along our journey with the Earth moving around the Sun. At this time we adorn ourselves anew and learn the rhythm and rhyme of another festive time and dance in celebration with the appearance of Spring. The Festival of Spring (the Spring Equinox) is located in the East position of the Shamanic Medicine Wheel.

Day and night are equal. We celebrate the resurrected light that becomes increasingly visible in the longer days. It is symbolic of the enlightenment of our spirits, giving inspiration and fire to our visions

We start blooming with the first flowers and take responsibility for ourselves and everything that happens in our ripening process. The Great Mother's message for us at this time is showing how she receives the power of fire and creativity and transforms them into her own source of power.

During this celebration, the Sun gives us his fire to kindle our visions. This "Fire Medicine" teaches us that something must die first in order to be reborn. The death of matter gives birth to light. The Indians of the Plains set fire to the old grass to enable new grass to grow where the old grass died. Fire is the power of the shaman that transforms the old into the new.

We are children of the Sun as well as the Earth for they are our Great parents. Father Sun reminds us that we are ourselves creators- by vision and orgasm. During this time we ask for our personal vision, for direction regarding the next steps that we are about to take. It is the festival of revelation, a message from our Great father-The Sun, the Song of Songs of the immortal and eternal spirit, which proclaims the divine, and the creative universal spirit.

Together with the Earth and all our relations in the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms; we discover our own resurrection through our passion and surrender to the bursting open of all life. We can finally burn away the dregs of the past and transform them into new life. We ourselves can be likened to the bonfires of Easter that our forebears made. We are the lamb with the banner of victory, becoming enlightened by symbolically hanging from the cross. Initiates into the mysteries of death and re-birth.

.
GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

Thank You, My Creator, for allowing me to walk the Red Road of Life. Please walk with me today.

You Know, our lives are run by constantly having to make choices and decisions. Every choice we make today will carry with it the consequences of that choice or decision. Every decision we make today will carry with it the consequences of that decision and be felt for seven generations into the future. We are also feeling the effect of decisions and choices made by our ancestors seven generations in the past.

With this in mind all we can do is ask the question of ourselves, "Do we want to be happy or do we want to be right?" Which ever one we choose will have a lot to do with the consequences we will experience today.

If today was the last day of your life, what choices and what decisions would you make?

I read this interesting article from another group and I thought I would pass it on. Not that it reflects totally what I believe forgiveness is all about. From my experience in any healing forgiveness is one of the key elements. But it can have its roots in many other aspects that need to be addressed at the same time. Some of these are pretty basic and obvious, like the fear of forgiving, envy, guilt, fear of the unknown, lack of loving, the fear of not being loved, failure -the list can go on. But in all these cases I believe we should be willing to forgive but at the same time never forget.
Any comments?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The term forgiveness is:

familiar to virtually all people, yet it is very likely that few truly understand its real meaning. Most individuals tend to regard forgiveness as being a truly magnanimous gesture on their part: one that is undertaken on behalf of the other person. Moreover, those individuals who, as rule practice forgiveness in their lives, tend to be viewed as upstanding human beings of great moral or spiritual fiber. While some folks may merit such lofty praise, the startling truth is that at its most fundamental level, forgiveness is more a selfish act than a noble one.
Now it wouldn't surprise me if you are somewhat shocked by the preceding statement, as it clearly runs contrary to conventional teaching on this topic. So for clarification purposes, it should be noted that the word 'selfish' when used in this context does not have a negative meaning. Extending forgiveness to someone is selfish in the sense that it is actually more beneficial to the person doing the forgiving, than it is to the person being forgiven. The reason for this is quite simple - a sincere act of forgiveness allows us to release negative energy (i.e., excessive levels of adrenaline, other stress hormones) that can literally become toxic to the cells within our bodies. The following passage from Discover the Power Within You by Eric Butterworth supports this very point:

"Actually, forgiveness is
the simplest way to lighten our burdens. The man who forgives is no more
saintly than one who insists upon keeping clean. In reality, the act of forgiveness constitutes a mental bath - letting go of something that can only poison us within."

Whenever we are unwilling to forgive, what we are doing is wasting a portion of our valuable present moment energy on something that no longer exists, except within the confines of our own mind. This backward step of time travelling is not the least bit empowering, for by drawing our attention from the 'now' it prohibits us from actually healing these outstanding issues and moving forward in life. Within Western culture, it has only been of late that the medical establishment has begun to acknowledge that a connection does actually exist between the mind (and emotions) and a person's physical health. In Eastern tradition this connection has been an accepted truth for centuries. Among modern day personal spiritual growth authors, Deepak Chopra
has done an excellent job of bridging this gap between Eastern and Western medicine. This excerpt from his book Ageless Body, Timeless Mind
is just one example of many that substantiate the impact that state of mind has on physical health:

"Although the image of the body as a
mindless machine continues to dominate mainstream Western medicine,
there is unquestionable evidence to the contrary. Death rates from cancer and heart disease
are provably higher among people in psychological distress, and lower among people who have a strong sense of purpose and well-being."

Holding on to resentments (i.e., not forgiving) is also a form of psychological distress, for it is obviously a mental process rather than a physical one. Yet as you persist in clinging to your hurts by refusing to forgive, what you are actually doing is unconsciously storing negative energy within your body that may ultimately develop into some form of illness. While some may doubt this, the reality is every thought or feeling has within it the potential to manifest in some physical form. Unfortunately, because of the time it normally takes for the symptoms of a disease to develop, the vast majority of people have no clue that their own habitual negative thinking and feeling (or emotional) patterns may be at the foundation of their illness.

Some of the most
compelling work in this area can be found in the writings of Louise Hay, an inspiring woman who literally healed herself of life-threatening cancer. Ms. Hay's You Can Heal Your Life is truly a classic self-help book about the mind-body connection as it relates to physical health. Its basic premise is that human beings unconsciously create the 'illnesses' in their bodies, and that diseases originate from a state of unforgiving. As the following passage illustrates, Louise Hay makes it very clear that the key to healing is, in fact, forgiving:

"We need to choose to release the past and forgive everyone, ourselves included. We may not know how to forgive; but the very fact we say we
are willing to forgive begins the healing process. It is imperative for our own healing that "we" release the past and forgive everyone."
So, if forgiveness does have such a positive effect on both emotional and physical health, why is that most people have difficulty practicing it?
One reason is that many continue to cling to old admonitions such as, "an eye for an eye' or similar teachings. A second, and perhaps more prevalent reason is that by forgiving, one appears to condone whatever inappropriate behavior occurred. As for the former reason, if you are a person that maintains 'an eye for an eye' philosophy, you might want to give some serious thought to this powerful Chinese proverb: "The one who pursues revenge should dig two graves." With respect to the latter reason, consider this insight from the best-selling author Caroline Myss' book Why People Don't Heal and How They Can:

"Forgiving
does not mean saying that what happened to you doesn't matter, or that it is all right for someone to have violated you. It simply means releasing the negative feelings you have about that event and the person or persons involved."

When you do opt to forgive a person or persons that have harmed you, or one or more of your loved ones in some way, you are by no means condoning what they did - not at all. What you are demonstrating by practicing forgiveness is that you will not allow your psyche and/or your body to be poisoned by the negative energy associated with holding on to resentments or grudges.

Grandfather Peter's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

I pray today that all of us will take time out to see, feel, work, and create our own visions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ancient One sat in the shade of his tree in front of his cave. Red
People came to him and he said to Red People,
"Tell me your vision." And Red People answered,
"The elders have told us to pray in this manner, and that manner,
and it is important that only we pray as we have been taught for
this has been handed down to us by the elders."
"Hmmmm," said the Ancient One.
Then Black People came to him and he said to Black People,
"Tell me your vision."
And Black People answered,
"Our mothers have said to go to this building and that building and
pray in this manner and that manner. And our fathers have said to
bow in this manner and that manner when we pray. And it is important
that we do only this when we pray."
"Hmmmm," said the Ancient One.
Then Yellow People came to him and he said to Yellow People,
"Tell me your vision."
And Yellow People answered,
"Our teachers have told us to sit in this manner and that manner and
to say this thing and that thing when we pray. And it is important
that we do only this when we pray."
"Hmmmm," said the Ancient One.
Then White People came to him and he said to White People,
"Tell me your vision." And White People answered, "Our Book has told
us to pray in this way and that way and to do this thing and that
thing, and it is very important that we do this when we pray."
"Hmmmm," said the Ancient One.
Then Ancient One spoke to the Earth and said,
"Have you given the people a vision?"
And the Earth said,
"Yes, a special gift for each one, but the people were so busy
speaking and arguing about which way is right they could not see the
gift I gave each one of them."
And the Ancient One asked same question of Water and Fire and Air
and got the same answer.
Then Ancient One asked Animal, and Bird, and Insect, and Tree, and
Flower, and Sky, and Moon, and Sun, and Stars, and all of the other
Spirits and each told him the same.
Ancient One thought this was very sad. He called Red People, Black
People, Yellow People, and White People to him and said to them.
"The ways taught to you by your Elders, and your Mothers and
Fathers, and Teachers, and Books are sacred. It is good that you
respect those ways, for they are the ways of your ancestors. But the
ancestors no longer walk on the Face of the Earth Mother. You have
forgotten your own Vision. Your Vision is right for you but no one
else. Now each of you must pray for your own Visions, and be still
enough to see them, so you can follow the way of the heart. It is a
hard way. It is a good way.

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY.

My Creator, help me to understand that when we share the wisdom of others, we come closer to the truth and wisdom within ourselves.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spirituality:
We all a responsibility to ourselves,
Which the Creator gave us at creation, and said,
"You are as spiritual as you are going to get."
Simply take that knowledge and utilize it to its maximum,
and in that, find peace and balance as it can be applied to your decisions.
Find the peace and balance within yourself. Don’t look to others to lead you.

Faith:

Have faith. Have faith. Have faith.
You're on the spiritual path.
You're on the road.
You are the spiritual sanctuary.
You are that strength and you're not going to be punished for
believing that the Creator lives inside you.
That isn't a punishment, that’s a joy.

Healing:
We have within us all things which we attribute to the Creator of all things.
We have the capacity to remain ill or to be healed.
To be healed does not mean to be well.
The Great One never said, to be healed meant being well.
That's an interpretation given to us by man to incite people to
ferocious prayer in their own behalf.
Being healed means you simply have faith.
Faith to face whatever it is.

The Red Road:
Being on the Red Road takes all your life.
It isn't something that you need to be Indian to do.
Being on a spiritual path takes all your life.
It isn't something you do on just Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or
Thursday;
It’s something you do with every breath you take.
Being on the Red Road means, every time you take a breath,
you are praying...
On the Red Road, we seek to find Balance.

Change:
Every breath has unlimited possibilities of a new life,
of new challenges, of new completions, of creation.
Every breath you take offers you an opportunity to do things you
never thought you could do.
Why not change....
We must make changes because changes
are inevitable and the first change we
have to make is in ourselves, as to how
we see the world and how we are able to
deal with life.
That change comes about by releasing the past,
releasing the blame, and the anger,
and the frustration for what you feel has been
done to you, and get on with your life...
If we live our lives in that historical past of how it used to be, then we invite disaster, because we offer no flexibility...
Dreams:
Your vision quest is every morning when
you open your eyes and get the guts to climb, out of bed.
That's your vision quest.
Get out there and do what should be done...
Let your dreams be your vision quest and get out and live your dream...
Power:
You are capable of doing something that has
never been done before, and that it to make
the world, the universe, a better place than it’s been...
That isn't going against the laws of nature,
that's saying you have the power within you...
You don't have to be god/goddess to have it,
or a shaman to have it, or a holy man, or holy
woman, or medicine man, or medicine woman.
You've got it right there, just as you sit.
You're it...

These are just a few from the book:
'From the Gathering'
The Wisdom of Little Crow

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
Help me today my Creator to have the will to think positively.
The wise ones say that if there is to be any peace in the world we must practice and cultivate the art of thinking positively and acting in good will. By understanding the reasons for this can help those who have the feelings of futility when thinking of world events.

By viewing life in terms of energy, we can understand that our higher self coupled with our thought/mind action creates, and our action/energy solidifies this thought into matter or results. In any energy relationship there is always a positive, creating side, and a negative, receiving side of that relationship. This is simply how the world turns and works. The will-to-good is the positive, creative impetus, which, when received, makes the manifestation of good will possible. We are either mentally polarized or emotionally polarized, and only those who are mentally polarised can begin to appropriate this energy through will on a mental plane. Simply put we have to cultivate our will, which lies in our inner strength, and move it into the mental plane so the energy of thought can bring it into action. In SHAMANIC terms and when we associate it within the Medicine Wheel. We have to see the vision of peace (East), feel the vision (South), transform the vision (west), and create the vision (North).
To quote from the works of the guru Djwhal Khul "It is absolutely essential that the will-to-good be unfolded by the disciples of the world, so that goodwill can be expressed by the rank and file of mankind. The will-to-good of the world knowers is the magnetic seed of the future." He also states " When the majority of inhabitants of the earth are being rapidly oriented towards good, towards righteousness, and when the bulk of human beings are inclined towards goodwill 'then ill health will persistently, even if only gradually, disappear and die out and finally become non-existent. Slowly, very slowly this is already happening''
In the goodwill process it is the creative/idea/problem solving individuals who are directly responsible for creating goodwill.

.GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator help me understand the wisdom of when a giant step into the unknown is necessary, or when a step by step approach is warranted.

We are often told to have faith in all that we do knowing we are supported every step of the way. This is true in most cases; we would be foolish to attempt to climb a ladder without proper support or someone holding the bottom rung for us. But at other times we are advised to have faith in attempting something we have never done before, even though it may seem foolish or impossible to do. So how can we understand the wisdom of what to do when presented with these dilemmas?

We can do no better than be aware of some of the wise laws that have served many in the past.

THE LAW OF BALANCE.

(Finding a middle way).“To walk in Balance” is an old Native American saying. Balance applies to our Body, Mind, Emotions and Spirit and to all levels of our being. Anything we do, we can under do or overdo. Our Earth walk can be likened to a pendulum. If our actions or habits swing too far to one side they will inevitably swing an equal amount to the other side. The key is to try to keep the swings either way to a minimum, to find the middle way, “To Walk in Balance”

THE LAW OF CHOICES.

Reclaiming our Power. We are all burdened and blessed by the great gift and responsibility of Free Will-the power of choice. Our future is in the large part based on the choices we make now, at this moment. We cannot always control our circumstances, but we can and do choose the responses and decisions we make to whatever arises. By reclaiming the power of choice and not allowing ourselves to be a victim of circumstances, we can find the courage to live fully in the world-To stand tall.

THE LAW OF PROCESS.

Taking life one step at a time. Life can be likened to a journey, a process. We should try to break up our life’s journey or any process in our lives into a series of small steps to be taken one by one, to reach our goal. For process transcends time and teaches us patience. Each step is based on a solid foundation of careful preparation, before taking the next step. In doing so we learn to trust ourselves better, and enjoy our unfolding potential.

THE LAW OF PRESENCE.

Living in the moment. Time is a paradox, stretching between the past and into the future. It has no reality, only in our own minds. For time is a convention of thought and language, a social agreement. But here is a greater truth, WE HAVE ONLY THIS MOMENT.THE PAST IS A MEMORY and THE FUTURE IS BASED ON WHAT WE DO IN THIS MOMENT.

THE LAW OF COMPASSION.

Awakening our Humanity. Unlike many religious dogmas, there will never be a “Judgement Day”. The Creator, the cosmos, the universe, does not judge us. It only provides consequences and lessons and opportunities to balance and learn through the law of cause and effect. No lesson is left unlearned; it just needs a little more understanding. COMPASSION is the recognition that we are all doing the best we can within the limits of our current beliefs, abilities and capacities.

THE LAW OF FAITH.

Trusting in Spirit. Our direct link to Universal Wisdom is our faith, reminding us we know more than we have ever read, heard or studied and we are full of potential. We have only to look, listen and trust that the Universal Spirit is working through us all. That everything is as it should be, and on schedule.

THE LAW OF EXPECTATION.

Expanding our Reality. Our thoughts are Energy, we move toward that which we can imagine but not beyond. What we assume, expect or believe creates and influences our experience. If we can expand our deepest beliefs about what is possible we can change our experience of life and unlock our true potential.

THE LAW OF INTEGRITY.

Living our Truth. Integrity means living and acting in complete alignment with the sacred spiritual laws and with our highest vision. With integrity in our hearts we respect, and honour others and ourselves. We can accept who we are and express our own interior reality, inspiring others, not with words but by our example

THE LAW OF ACTION.

Moving into Life. No matter what we feel we know. No matter how much we talk about what we know. No matter what are our potential gifts and talents, only ACTION brings them into life. Many of us understand the concepts of commitment, love, courage and love. But do we really know what we can do. For only doing leads to understanding. Only ACTION turns knowledge into wisdom.

THE LAW OF CYCLES.

Dancing to Natures Song. The Natural World and Nature move in rhythms, cycles and patterns. The passing of the seasons, the movement of the stars, and the ebb and flow of the tides. The seasons do not push one another. The clouds do not race the wind across the sky. All things happen in their own good time and when they are ready to happen. Rising and falling and rising like the Ocean Waves in the cycles of time.

THE LAW OF SURRENDER.

Embracing a Higher Will. Surrender means acceptance. Accepting this moment, this body, and this life with open arms. Surrender means getting out of our own way and living in accord with a higher will, expressed as the wisdom of the heart. It does not mean just passive acceptance; surrender uses every challenge as a means of spiritual growth and expanded awareness.

THE LAW OF UNITY.

Remembering Our Connection. Each of us are on this Earth at this time as separate beings with diverse destinies; but just like each raindrop makes up the seas on this planet, so are we each part of the Ocean of Awareness in the Body of the Creator. Find love and inner peace deep within the highest truth that we are all one Family. Leave behind the baggage of fear, envy, greed and resentment: fly aloft on the wings of understanding to enter the boundless Land of Compassion. Enjoy the Laws for we are all. part of them. Life is Unity; Life is Equality, for Eternity

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, today you showed me that growth only happens
when we appreciate ourselves and what we already have.

The fourth stepping stone along the Pathway to Peace is the Fertility Stone. As we step upon it, it glows in radiant shades of green. It plants a seed that awakens all our seven spiritual senses and the stone has seven facets, as do all the previous stones, allied to each one of these senses.
When we stand upon the fertility stone it is symbolic of life materialised in the physical world bringing the qualities of abundance and renewal. As these qualities enter the centre of our being we experience the feelings of appreciation. Appreciation nourishes our self-esteem, renewing the abundance we have been given and reminding us that we honour our own sacred space, as well as others and that we should be proud of what we are, what we were, and what we can become. We thank the ancestors and all our relations for offering their wisdom and encouragement so we can explore the abundance of life.
