Grandfather's Prayer for Today

Grandfather’s Prayer for Today.
Thank you, My Creator for the enlightenment you give to me at each dawning as I wake to great the new day.
---------------------------------------------
"Enlightenment" is not an object to be desired,it is not a goal to be achieved. And you will become enlightened onlywhen you have forgotten all about it,otherwise, never. And it is not a question to be asked.Even if I say you have become enlightened, that won't help. The very question shows that you still desire.Enlightenment has become your greed. You may have desired other things beforemoney, respectability, power, prestige; now you desire enlightenment. The desire has moved to a different object, but it has not changed. The desire is still the same and desire is the problem. To desire anything is to remain unenlightened.Enlightenment is your nature. It is not something to be achieved,it is already the case.~ OSHO ~

Are you Ready?

It is a month before the Autumn Equinox and Thanksgiving Time on or around the 23rd September. Now is a good time to start thinking about the real meaning of this time. Our ancestors who were close to the natural cycles of the year would start gearing up for this and preparing in their own ways for the important ceremony ahead. I am posting one way we today can take stock of our the past year and get ready for the year ahead. Although it is said we have to live in the moment we can make the moments ahead more realistic and attainable by some forward planning while still keeping an open mind about expecting the unexpected.
When we talk about the Medicine Wheel we should remember that Medicine means "Power", and Wheel means "Spiritual". Not spiritual in any religious sense but any place that is in balance and harmony as a wheel is. This Medicine Wheel or place of spiritual power can be anywhere you can be aware of the balance of the four directions, four elements, four seasons etc. it is just a place where one can be aware of the four directions around us from the perspective from our centre. So best of luck and I pray that each and everyone of us have a great year ahead.

DA NAHO AWEO (It has been said and it is as it should be)

Thanksgiving and give-away Ceremony around the Medicine Wheel.
We gather around the Medicine Wheel at this time sitting on our power spot or our birth moon position to contemplate and review all the things that have happened to us over the year past. We look at the things we have been given and achieved and give thanks for them. We look at the things that have not grown corn and be prepared to give them away, as we do not need to carry them with us into the coming year. With the gifts we have we now look at the things we need to carry forward to sustain us over the coming winter months and the things we need to achieve in the coming twelve months of the year.
Have four pieces of paper and write down on them in turn.

1 On the first piece of paper write the things you have achieved and been given and wish to give thanks for, from the year gone by.
Approach the centre of the wheel, the place of the Creator which will be adorned with the harvested fruits of the three sisters, corn beans and squash, and symbolically burn the sheet of paper. The smoke carries your prayers of gratitude to the Creator and the ash scatters to the four winds.

2. On the second piece of paper write down those thing you wish to give-away and have not grown corn over the past year. These can be things from many years’ back which you are now ready to give-away and you now feel ready at last to give them away. Approach the Creator( The Centre) position again, burn the paper and bury the ashes in Mother Earth around the Creator position.

3. On the third piece of paper write down those things you wish to carry forward with you and to work on in the coming winter months. Raise the paper to the sky and the Earth and to each of the four directions and put it safely away so you can refer to it any time over the winter.

4. On the last piece of paper write down those things you wish to achieve over the coming year and offer it to the four directions and the sky and earth and bury it under the West position in the Medicine Wheel. This piece of paper can be moved to each of the positions on the wheel representing the coming eight festivals, close to their relevant dates to be looked at and reviewed.

NOTE: It is said one should not make definite plans further than one year ahead just as the Natural World does. It relies on the seeds it plants in one year to carry it forward into the next year. We can all have an overall vision for future years but by planning and setting goals year by year it makes it more attainable

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, thank you for teaching me that whenever I feel in the dark,
All I have to do is quiet myself and my inner flame will light my path forward.

Three candles dispel the darkness; truth, knowledge and the ways of nature. Celtic Proverb

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY
Sometimes, My Creator I wonder why I cannot be like someone else.
At these times you remind me that without my individual spirit, my body, my mind and my feelings Creation would be incomplete and boring.
Great Spirit thank you for reminding me to be me.

The reason Wakan Tanka does not make two birds, or animals,or human beings exactly alike is because each is placed here by Wakan Tanka to be an independent individuality and to rely upon itself.

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, help me find time today to be quiet and listen to voice within me, knowing also it is you talking to me.

Inside each of us is a voice. It is a quiet voice. It is a guiding voice. If we listen for it, it will guide us, and help us avoid disaster. It is especially active when we are afraid, when we are in doubt, when we are scared, when we need help, and when we get angry. If we are excited emotionally, it is hard to hear this voice. If we are angry, it's hard to hear this voice because it is usually quiet. The best thing we can do is to practice getting quiet. If we don't get quiet, there is another voice called the judge. It tells us to attack or say bad things to other people or to judge ourselves. This voice is loud and usually gets us into trouble.

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

May I always show gratitude and remember the simple words the Creator gave to me
"Nyah Weh Swennio"

These simple words of greeting and gratitude, "Nyah Weh Swennio", are spoken in various ways but have the overlaying meaning of gratitude--"Thank You for being". "Thank you for being who you are, what you were, and what you will become", and "Thank you for being Healthy", are just a few. But they always give thanks for what you are and not
"WHAT IF"

WHAT IF . . . by Oriah Mountain Dreamer

WHAT IF it doesn't matter what you do but how you do whatever you do?
HOW WOULD this change what you choose to do with your life?

WHAT IF you could be more fully present and open-hearted working as a cashier in the corner store. Able to really see and be with the people who come into the store- than you are when you are striving to do what you hope or think will make a more important contribution to the world and the lives of those you love?
HOW WOULD this change how you want to spend your precious time on this earth?

WHAT IF your contribution to the world and the fulfillment of your own happiness is not dependent upon discovering a better method of prayer or technique of meditation.
Not dependent upon reading the right book or attending the right seminar, but upon really seeing and deeply appreciating yourself and the world as they are right now?
HOW WOULD this affect your search for spiritual development?

WHAT IF there is no need to change, no need to try and transform yourself into someone whom is more compassionate, more present, more loving or wise?
HOW WOULD this affect all the places in your life where you are endlessly trying to be better?

WHAT IF the task is simply to unfold, to become who you already are in your essential nature- gentle, compassionate and capable of living fully and passionately present?
HOW WOULD this effect how you feel when you wake up in the morning?

WHAT IF who you essentially are right now is all that you are ever going to be? HOW WOULD this effect how you feel about your future? WHAT IF the essence of who you are and always have been is enough?
HOW WOULD this effect how you see and feel about your past?

WHAT IF the question is not why am I so infrequently the person I really want to be, but why do I so infrequently want to be the person I really am?
HOW WOULD this change what you think you have to learn?

WHAT IF becoming who and what we truly are happens not through striving and trying but by recognising and receiving the people and places and practices that offer us the warmth of encouragement we need to unfold?
HOW WOULD this shape your choices about how to spend today?

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY
Many moons ago I received the call.
Today, may I never forget to listen?

THE CALLING OF A SHAMAN.

Innumerable examples from primitive societies show that the profession of a shaman was chosen in a special way.
In today's world we have a tendency to latch on to certain 'buzz words' and categorize them into our own way of thinking. We should be reminded at times about the true meaning of these words so we can avoid diluting the meaning and not 'bastardising the true intent and meaning.' Shaman is one classic example.
The calling of a shaman is a calling or more precisely, a divine selection. But how does that manifest itself to the prospective shaman? Often this occurs during a severe illness or trauma, which conveys to the sick person that the way of healing is to drop everything and follow the way of the shamans. Another way to the calling is that of a sudden vision in which a spirit appears to the chosen one, most likely the spirit of the person's ancestors or of a deceased shaman, who passes on the responsibility, and oftentimes work unfinished, of becoming a shaman. The call can be heard also in dreams, in which the candidate, in a trancelike state, experiences the entire path of apprenticeship up to the ritual of initiation. Others examples, are of people experiencing 'near death' experiences, which changes them forever. Others have been struck by lightning, which doesn't kill them, but their personal histories are erased, and their true mission is revealed. There are also examples of hereditary transmission of the position of shaman where it is kept in one family over centuries. But in all cases it changes the initiate’s life to one of service and personal responsibility not only to oneself but to one of cosmic responsibility.
Have you heard the whispers in the Wind today?
