Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator, Help me to recognize the lessons of the past and to live in the NOW, and expand
my expectations for tomorrow.

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY
May we never forget that what we do today will influence what happens tomorrow and what we did yesterday.

THE PROMISE OF OUR TOMORROWS
The promise of our tomorrows depends on how we honour the blessings that are ours today.
Can you hear the voices of the children of the children yet unborn.
Do they call to you with gratitude, or do you hear their scorn?
Are we so wrapped up in taking that we forget to give?
Do we waste the abundance of resources and forget how the children will live?
Have we killed the promise of tomorrows yet to be?
Or will we stop the plunder of greed’s insanity?
The children of the future sing out in the night.
Their song asks for mercy, a release from their plight.
You can make a difference, you can show you care.
By honouring all the blessings you have,
IF YOU DARE!

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator, at this time of the year help me to give honour
and gratitude for all I receive. May the true spirit of giving and receiving abound.

The Original peoples honour the usefulness of everything in life. Everything has a mission or purpose to serve the whole, even the material things in our world that some may feel unnecessary. It is the degree of usefulness that determines its purpose.
Plastic bottles and containers may seem unnecessary and potential pollutants to us but to others in the world they can be a life giving container to carry water in. Everything that has a use is serving mankind in some way. "One man's trash, is another's treasure".
We should use everything we have until it is worn out, or used for another purpose. If we have no more use for it it should be passed on to another who can find a use for it or re-cycled.
This is part of the give-away.We need to also understand the meaning of travelling light and only keeping what we need to survive and to hoard gives no honour to the objects we do not need. When use our material things to serve a purpose, we have honoured the mission of that tool or object.
This concept is not unlike our need to feel useful, to find a place in life, and to have a sense of purpose. The relationship between having tools and being tools helps to increase our potential. Having beautiful things and walking in beauty, and using our resources for the highest good can transform our lives, becoming our true power and serving the whole.

Winter Solstice

21st December
The Celebration of the South
(Winter Solstice)

In the Natural Cycles of the Year this time is the beginning of the Year and the first of the Eight Yearly Festivals. This Holy Night is the longest night of the year. The Earth and all life on it are immersed in the deepest darkness of the year, the fluid blackness, the audible silence of the cosmic obscurity.

Courageously, The Earth Mother surrenders to the secret of the longest night: she withdraws entirely into her own darkness, concentrates on her own depths to dream in the realm of the not-yet-revealed and gathers the necessary strength to lead her forward into her next cycle.

This primordial gesture of the Great Mother is a symbol for the child-man who, in Celtic and Norse Mythology is known from the Epic of Gilgamesh, the godlike enlightened one. Who must descend into his own depths, into his own darkness of his soul, to meet his brother Enkidu, who is likened to the black shadow.

In Native American (Lakota) tradition it can be likened to Nagi, the Ghost and shadow self.
Everyone loves Gigamesh, who shines like the Sun and wants to avoid Enkidu, his gloomy brother. But both are halves of the whole man, and both have to unite to become one- because where there is light, there is also shadow. We can only understand and comprehend light if we think darkness at the same time.

Brother Enkidu is celebrated by the childlike being in the South of the Medicine Wheel.

The South, with power of the sacred three and thirteen, joins the soul of man with the Power of the Plants and the Realm of water. The familiar custom of erecting the Christmas tree and decorating it with lights reminds us of this. We are reminded of innocence and trust displayed by the plants at this festival time. In the same way that they, as seeds, feel safe in the surrendering to the darkness of the Earth and feel that it is their source of growth that will lead them to the light. We as people have to immerse ourselves into the abysmal darkness of the soul---
To go into the dark sea of our emotions and completely trust that our surrender to the darkness, will lead us into the light.
This is the real gift of the night: the rebirth of light. The longest night of the year proclaims the departure of darkness and greets the first reborn rays of light. We are celebrating the Christ, who is given to us by the universe in this night as a newborn and innocent child of light to illuminate the darkness. Just as the wise men, in Christianity were also led through the darkness by a guiding star towards the newborn light in Bethlehem.
During this festival we share with the Earth and all our relations the recovered light of Love and Peace. The light’s first subtle rays penetrate the dark cave of our inner being and help answer the questions:
Ø What seed will germinate and grow in me this coming year?
Ø What responsibility must I bear
Ø Which sorrows that I may grow in harmony with everything?
Ø Where do I confront my light and dark sides?
Ø Which part of me is Gigamesh and which part Enkidu.
Ø How do I acknowledge Nagi, my shadow self?
We may also meet Heraclitus, an honoured guest of our inner, because we have undergone the Twelve Trials of the twelve months previous in heroic fashion. We may now set out on our new yearly adventure with freshly gathered strength, without false humility, as heroes.
This adventure, a plan still without form, lies before us as a wealth of opportunities. Our soul discovers something sacred and healing in this night. It is in Harmony, and we keep the peace of this night like shepherds and share our joy by giving and receiving gifts…

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

“May we all find courage and joy at facing the darkness within ourselves, so we might bring forth light and growth in the coming months ahead”

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY

My Creator you have given me so much today,
More than I will ever need.
Can I have your permission to give away some today?
Even if it is just a smile.

You build fences around your yards and pay money for people to measure the ground to tell you if your neighbour's fence is one inch too close to your house. You give nothing away unless you can get something in return. Everything is economic. No wonder people need such big houses. They aren't to live in, they are to store things in.

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, help me to be myself today, and love being me.

A human being is only interesting if he’s in contact with himself. I learned you have to trust yourself, be what you are, and do what you ought to do the way you should do it. You have got to discover you, what you do, and trust it.

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator! please help me to accept my defects and shortcomings, knowing in doing so I grow closer to myself and you.

Our lives are built not only on the positive things we experience and learn. The greatest achievement is when we can learn from our mistakes. These are not blocks to our growth, but rather opportunities to reflect and understand the reason for the lessons. Balance is the key, anything we do, we can under do or overdo. Our Earth walk can be likened to a pendulum. If our actions or habits swing too far to one side they will inevitably swing an equal amount to the other side. The key is to try to keep the swings either way to a minimum, to find the middle way,

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY
I give honour and respect today to the nameless ones throughout the world who share their wisdom with us so me all grow a little wiser.

Medicine Man Who Wishes to Remain Nameless
I do not wish those who read this to know my name, not because I am afraid or ashamed of the messages I share, but because a true medicine person does not seek personal attention. I do not do what I do because I want your admiration or homage. I do not want you to say, "He is a wise man." My wish is that instead you will give any credit or regard for the words you read to the message in words themselves and to the Greatest of all Spirits. When I considered offering to you, I fasted and prayed for the wisdom to know what would help those of you who need the help the most. I saw two spirits as I prayed. The first who came to me was standing tall. He held a spear from which hung the feathers of hawks and owls. He did not speak to me. He pointed his spear to the direction of the wind and I looked into the wind and saw many of my people who walk the Earth today. They were standing in a muddy place. They were angry at me for talking to you. They called to me that I was a traitor to my people if I offer words to help any others. The warrior with the spear looked at me and his hard face softened and he turned away.
Another warrior came to me. He wore a buffalo skin over his head and he drew a grand medicine wheel on the sand in front of me. One side pointed to each spirit of the wind, to each element of the Earth. He stood in it and walked around slowly. He stopped in each direction and spoke to me. In the first he said, "Truth is the truth. There is nothing else. Truth is not owned by any people."
In the second he said, "Every people have their sacred ways to dance their truth. Do not change them or give them your ways. Let each find their own dances for the one truth."
In the third he said, "What makes a people strong is their heart. A painful heart is not strong. A strong heart is not selfish."
In the fourth direction he said, "Each must protect their sacred ways, yet each must share the truth that makes those ways sacred."
Then he stepped into the centre of the circle and then before me, on good ground, stood the spirits of all the ancestors of my people. The man with the spear stood there as well. He did not speak. He pointed the spear to the Ancestor Spirits. The man in the circle said, "Respect your ancestors and hold what is sacred close to your heart. In this way you will respect your people. Respect your Creator and speak the truth to those who wish to hear it. In this way you will respect your world." The vision was suddenly gone. I sat in the sand looking where the spirits were and I heard a voice say, "Be a messenger not the message." This was my vision. This is why I chose to do this.

Part 2 I offer you this truth that I know. You may take it as a gift if you wish. A misconception many people have is that to be "with the spirit", to be spiritual" means you have to be sitting some place in a "higher state" praying to God. You can be conscious of yourself and spirit no matter what you are doing. There is spirit in everything. There is spirit in rock, in roads, in buildings. There is spirit in everything. You name an object and there is spirit in it. There is even spirit in things that are made. There is energy in them. All objects have been made of things from the Earth, so all things have spirit in them. When you are conscious of yourself, then you can look around and be aware of the spirit in everything around you. Then you can have a spiritual experience washing your clothes. I have been looking at your group website. It is good. But I wonder if the people who read it who are looking for the keys to spiritual growth know the basics that are very important about spiritual growth that no one teaches you. One of these is that everything has spirit and you have to be aware of that spirit. Not just your own spirit. Some people think that to be spiritual means just to be aware of themselves and their own spirit. You must be aware of everything, because everything has spirit. We are all part of one spirit. If you focus too much on the part of spirit that has your name on it, you will be missing something. You might not even know that you are missing it until it is too late and you don t have time to find it. The next thing people need to know is that being spiritual does not mean owning the truth. No one can own truth. Truth can only be shared. No one can own it. It, like love, means nothing unless there is someone you can give it to. To know the truth of the world and keep it to yourself means nothing. You must also be careful not to run the risk of believing you know the only truth, or that you know all that is true. The universe is very, very big. Even this Earth has so many spirits, so many voices. It does not matter how much truth you know, there is always going to be someone who knows something that is true that you don't know yet. Judge truth with an open heart and an objective eye. Sometimes when you believe something is true and someone tells you something different, your heart may tell you (that) you know what he or she are saying is true, but you don' t want to let go what you already believe because you have invested energy in it. So being spiritual does not mean owning or having the complete truth. You cannot deny other's view of truth simply because they are not yours. Many people have different names for the same thing. It doesn't matter what you call these things, the power is identical in the people's lives who chose to believe in them. People may come to us and say, "Teach us about the Great Spirit. Teach us about Usen. Teach us about Wi or any other name." There are hundreds of names for the Great Spirit. When you pray to whatever name you pray to, the power of the prayer is identical. What it does for you is identical. The act of meditation or prayer connects you to yourself and that part of Creation and God that you are a key to. If man would understand this, there would be far less fighting. Understand that just as you feel the strength of your truth when you contemplate it, another man feels the strength of his truth when he contemplates it. The form or shape of your truth may seem very different, but the strength you feel is the same. It is from the same source. I have heard some people say that they are reaching to ascend and become masters. Master yourself before you try to master heaven. Ascension begins inside. They say when you are complete in yourself, you have ascended. But no man is complete in himself, no woman is complete in herself until they have become complete with the whole universe. Difficult. Not a small thing to ask. Impossible if you don't see and share in the spirit of things around you. This reminds me of a story. When frogs sing the rains come. One day a cricket was walking among the frogs. The cricket started to chirp and the frogs started to croak back. The cricket said to the frogs, "Oh, your croaking sounds terrible. My chirping is much better." The Cricket was very smart and cunning. He tricked the frogs into chirping by saying things to them like, "It is better to chirp. Croaking is ignorant. Croaking is low. That intelligent people like me chirp." The frogs wanted to seem smart, so one by one the frogs decided that maybe he was right and they started to chirp, not croak. Soon all the frogs chirped and chirped and chirped, and the rain never came. All the frogs suffered because there was no rain. Finally, one by one the younger frogs started saying, "Do you remember when our grandfathers use to croak? What a sound that was, but the rains always came!" So the young ones started to croak. Then their mothers and their fathers remembered the joy of croaking and the rains came back. The Cricket was doing what a cricket should do. But a cricket should never tell a frog what to do. The frogs should never do what a cricket does. Each one of us has a song to sing. That is what our spiritual self is, our song. Some will chirp, some will croak, some will howl. All the songs are the same to those who sing them. They are equal. Does that make sense to you? You must remember then, being spiritual is not a part-time job. It is something that is part of your life. In everything you do, you feel the spirit of it. That is why people are coming back to traditional ways. Even though we were not perfect people. Even though we had wars, we had fights and squabbles over land, women, animals and other things. Even though we tried to live in peace on the whole, we had setbacks like everyone else. And even though there were some bands who had more setbacks than others. Even with our setbacks, we were aware of the energy and the spirit around us. The red man always lived and always lives - if he is following his traditional ways- conscious of the spirit in all things around him and in the spirit in himself. The red woman knows the spirit of all things around her and is aware that it is the spirit in herself. The red child is taught from the day it begins, to feel the spirit of things around him. To the red man, to the red people, the Earth is not a dust ball in space covered with things that were created for man's use. We feel the life and the energy in everything around us. Because we are human we are not perfect, yet we hold something that technological society takes away from people today. They are looking for it because it is important to their life. It is important to the life of everyone. Those who don't have it feel like they are empty shells living in a world that is cold and mechanical. To fill this feeling is what people are looking for. If they would just look inside they will find it. It is there just waiting for them to see it. They do not need to learn to Sun Dance to find it. That may not be their way. They need to look for what they lost. Tell them to look again. Do you understand? The words of the Elders are meant for everyone. Therefore we encourage you to share these words and messages as a gift to others as they are a gift to you.

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY.

My Creator, help me today to set a good example to everyone I meet, especially the children

It is said what we do today, affects seven generations into the future. If this is true we are feeling the effects of what happened seven generations in the past. We can readily see the world wars and conflicts of the past affect us. We are also affected by the actions our ancestors did in the past. These are the bad things as well as good things. Part of the realization of this enables us to feel honored and humble that we can learn from past mistakes and take on the responsibility of being a good example to others, by learning and understanding from these mistakes. I have met many that are quick to lay blame for the way they are on Karma, as if it were an excuse for the situation they are in. Karma lies in the law of cause and effect. We can change our so-called Karma by recognizing the effect and having the courage to find the cause. If not we pass it onto the next generations.

When we are born, we start with a beautiful empty mind ready to be given our beliefs, attitudes, habits and expectations. Most of our true learning comes from watching the actions of others. As we watch our family or relatives, whatever their actions and values are, so will be the children's values and acts. If we see our family shouting, arguing and hateful, so will it be for the children. The cycle of life -- baby, youth, adult and Elder -- is all connected. If the older ones have good values, it will be connected to the children.

May we all set a good example for the generations yet unborn.

Nature is our Greatest Teacher again

My old friend the Oak Tree that I meet every day when I walk the dogs has been very quiet over the last few days. But this morning she was back to her usual talkative self. I noticed this morning that her remaining leaves had almost overnight changed their colour to a deep dark orange. There was no wind this morning but I was showered by her leaves as I approached her as if it was raining leaves. She seems to say to me that although we have have been going through major changes of late, some natural as the seasons always do change. There has been some major changes as we all know and we should all look to consolidating looking to our personal survival and inner strengths. But this morning she seemed to be in a predictive mood, which is unusual for nature as it mainly looks in the NOW. She was seeming to impart to me that we have not seen nothing yet about major changes ahead. But more than just changes, there seems to be a major shift in consciousness within the world taking place. It is slowly starting but will accelerate at a alarming rate over the coming months and years. This is why we have to look at our own personal wellbeing and comfort zones.
I know you may all say it is pretty obvious that these things are going on, but I see it is comforting when the messages from nature are confirming what a lot of us are feeling at a deep level.

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY

My Creator, may I always remember that you will only present me with situations I am capable of handling at any one time.
If I find any situation hard to handle, may I always remember the wise words—
“Ask and it shall be given”
“Seek and you will find”

This is courage… to bear unflinchingly what heaven sends

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator, help me today to understand that it is my choices and freewill
that will help me become my vision. Please guide me through these transformations so that I can become what I need to be.

If you are trying to become what others want you to be, or what you think others want you to be you, you are keeping your personal will and potential in denial. You cannot follow a set of rules or lesson plans. It is your heart's greatest joy that should take the lead. We cannot allow ourselves to conform that restricts our potential. Let your true self guide you and you will find the ingredients to become your vision-- in your own time and in your own individual way.
Is it time to get out of your own way and allow yourself to become?

Nature is our Greatest Teacher again

The saga continues. If you read my experiences with nature yesterday. My Friendly Oak tree was at it again this morning. I was walking the dogs just as dawn was breaking. I approached the friendly tree from the East facing West. It was very quiet with not a breath of wind. The Rising Sun was behind me and my shadow seemed to outline itself on the tree. I was drawn into the tree down into the root system and felt so relaxed and at peace. The tree seemed to be telling me to take time out to relax and meditate on the inner. To gather strength and consolidate. To feel stability and to let the coming changes gently flow through through you. Thank You dear friend.

Thursday, 23 October 2008

You know sometimes we can take all the wisdom, teaching and sharing with each other as the major way we re-connect to the old ways and traditions. But even in these modern times spending a brief time in nature is still the best teacher for all of us at both a physical and spiritual level. For they are one and the same for there is no separation.
As an example I was out this morning walking my dogs. As usual I gave thanks to the Creator and all that he has given us. The Sacred directions around, above, and below us, and all my relations. I also always acknowledge two large trees where I walk as being the Grandmother and Grandfather trees of the wood. There is a special old oak tree that I visit most mornings, as she, (I call her she as I am sure she is a wise Grandmother Tree), always has words of wisdom to impart to me. Well, this morning as I approached her, a gust of wind blew and I was smothered in her falling leaves. I saw this a sign of one sort or another and what I got was the word CHANGES, which I have been getting for many moons now. She seemed to tell me more though about Changes. That changes are a natural way of things. As the Seasons change her leaves change into leaves that have done there job and now can be let go to be recycled by Mother Earth and Nature. She seemed to say also that we all have to let go of things that have done there job and move on. But we also have to withdraw into ourselves so the lessons and growth we have achieved over the past months can be assimilated inside of us, so we may grow stronger in the coming times ahead. As I said thank you and started to walk away, a crow flew over and landed in her branches. Was the keeper of the Sacred Laws ( Crow) telling me something also?
To me this is a good message that all of us may take heart from. That with the massive changes taken place in the world recently, and still to come, and that if we learn from changes we all will be better and stronger for it.
Whether we live in the City or the country we all have the opportunity to listen to Nature in one form or another. Maybe some of you out there have a teaching from nature that you wish to share?

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator, Help me today not to judge another,
and to be secure in my own Sacred Space

Petty Tyrants.
The little minded people who seek power over others never use encouragement. These devious petty tyrants work diligently to destroy the faith that others have in themselves, using criticism and covert hostility as their equalizers

Pettiness is a tragic shadow part of human nature. When people are so insecure that they have to belittle and act disrespectful to another, the shadows of self-rejection and self-hatred have a field day. It is evident to the astute observer that the same covert actions are undermining the petty tyrant as well.
The shadow keeps the jealousy circulating inside the little-minded in order to manipulate and control their despotic behavior It works! the one who wants control over others never realise they are being controlled by their own shadowy natures. In seeking to destroy other's faith in themselves and the faith and respect these same people have in others, the power hungry or insecure human has unknowingly undermined the Self's potential for true greatness.

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator, May I always find the time to tell the Children a story, so in the remembering the children to come will also remember.

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, help me accept the changes and transformations in my life, with grace and humility and calm expectation.

When we feel coming changes, it is like an emotion that permeates deep within our senses. It is as if we know something big is about to happen, but we cannot put a finger on it. At times it can frighten us and make us want to look around future's corner, just to get a glimpse of what we cannot see from our human vantage point.
Coming change is one of the unique mysteries of life that sets our emotions spinning. It can be likened to a mixture of feelings that can shroud us like a blanket creating near panic. But this is a normal feeling of fear of the unknown. The normal feelings are normally two-fold. One of denial or numbness, the other being fearful expectations.
The normal process of transformation can be a wonderful experience if we do not let our minds get in the way. Just think of Mother Bear during the winter months. She will have withdrawn into her den to hibernate and allow natural transformation to take place. She is probably pregnant and her full belly will allow her to live of her fat as new life develops during this time. Until she emerges from her den in the spring, transformed herself as well as producing new life in her cubs.

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

.GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator help today, to awaken to life and be just me!

"The Awakening"
A time comes in your life when you finally get it...when, in the midst of all your fears and insanity, you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out...ENOUGH! Enough fighting and crying and blaming and struggling to hold on. Then, like a child quieting down after a tantrum, you blink back your tears and begin to look at the world through your eyes.
This is your awakening. You realize it's time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change, or for happiness, safety and security to magically appear over the next horizon. You realize that in the real world there aren’t always fairy tale endings, and that any guarantee of "happily ever after" must begin with you... and in the process a sense of serenity is born of acceptance. You awaken to the fact that you are not perfect and that not everyone will always love, appreciate, or approve of who or what you are... and that's OK. They are entitled to their own views and opinions. You learn the importance of loving and championing yourself... and in the process a sense of new found confidence is born of self-approval. You stop complaining and blaming other people for the things they did to you- or didn't do for you - and you learn that the only thing you can really count on is the unexpected. You learn that people don't always say what they mean or mean what they say and that not everyone will always be there for you and that everything isn’t always about you. So, you learn to stand on your own and to take care of yourself... and in the process a sense of safety and security is born of self-reliance. You stop judging and pointing fingers and you begin to accept people as they are and to overlook their shortcomings and human frailties... and in the process a sense of peace and contentment are born of forgiveness. You learn to open up to new worlds and different points of view. You begin reassessing and redefining who you are and what you really stand for. You learn the difference between wanting and needing and you begin to discard the doctrines and values you've outgrown, or should never have bought into to begin with. You learn that there is power and glory in creating and contributing and you stop manoeuvring through life merely as a "consumer" looking for your next fix. You learn that principles such as honesty and integrity are not the outdated ideals of a bygone era, but the mortar that holds together the foundation upon which you must build a life. You learn that you don't know everything; it's not your job to save the world and that you can't teach a pig to sing. You learn that the only cross to bear is the one you choose to carry and that martyrs get burned at the stake. Then you learn about love. You learn to look at relationships as they really are and not as you would have them be. You learn that alone does not mean lonely. You stop trying to control people, situations and outcomes. You learn to distinguish between guilt and responsibility anther importance of setting boundaries and learning to say NO. You also stop working so hard at putting your feelings aside, smoothing things over and ignoring your needs. You learn that your body really is your temple. You begin to care for it and treat it with respect. You begin to eat a balanced diet, drink more water, and take more time to exercise. You learn that being tired fuels doubt, fear, and uncertainty and so you take more time to rest. And, just as food fuels the body, laughter fuels our soul. So you take more time to laugh and to play. You learn that, for the most part, you get in life what you believe you deserve, and that much of life truly is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You learn that anything worth achieving is worth working for, and that wishing for something to happen is different than working toward making it happen. More importantly, you learn that in order to achieve success you need direction, discipline and perseverance. You also learn that no one can do it all alone, and that it’s OK to risk asking for help. You learn the only thing you must truly fear is fear itself. You learn to step right into and through your fears because you know that whatever happens, you can handle it and to give in to fear is to give away the right to live life on your own terms. You learn to fight for your life and not to squander it living under a cloud of impending doom. You learn that life isn't always fair, you don't always get what you think you deserve and that sometimes bad things happen to unsuspecting, good people... and you learn not to always take it personally. You learn that nobody's punishing you and everything isn't always somebody’s fault. It's just life happening. You learn to admit when you are wrong and to build bridges instead of walls. You learn that negative feelings such as anger, envy and resentment must be understood and redirected or they will suffocate the life out of you and poison the universe that surrounds you. You learn to be thankful and to take comfort in many of the simple things we take for granted, things that millions of people upon the earth can only dream about: a full refrigerator, clean running water, a soft warm bed, a long hot shower. Then, you begin to take responsibility for yourself by yourself and you make yourself a promise to never betray yourself and to never, ever settle for less than your heart's desire. You make it a point to keep smiling, to keep trusting, and to stay open to every wonderful possibility. You hang a wind chime outside your window so you can listen to the wind. Finally, with courage in your heart, you take a stand, you take a deep breath, and you begin to design the life you want to live as best you can.

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, many years ago, when I was an arrogant, know it all young warrior I was given so many lessons to learn that I was confused and did not know where to turn. I prayed to you and you put in my path a wise grandmother who said to me "No lesson is left unlearned, it just need a little more understanding” she also said "Take each lesson into your heart and you will find the reason for it, you may not find the answer, but you will be able to reason it out in a righteous way and see the justice for having the lesson.”

My Creator, I thank you for these words, for doing this taught me humility but above all gratitude for having lessons, for they help me to grow in a just way.
Then there were times I would ask a certain kind of question and receive no immediate response. Instead he would remain motionless, and after a period of silence, he would say, "There is a period in the life of every person in which there is foolishness. When this period passes some people will grow up, remembering and using what they were told. For this we have a saying, 'When you have had enough foolishness, then you become knowledgeable and know your mistakes.' There are others who never go beyond this first stage; they remain foolish for the rest of their lives. To those people we say, 'Your foolishness will accompany you to your old age.'"

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

Help me today to find the silence within knowing I have journeyed back to you and myself. Thank you for helping me feel whole again.

On our journey along the pathway of peace we now arrive at the last stepping-stone on our journey. This stepping stone is The Healing Stone and glows in radiant shades of lavender. It plants a seed in the seeker that awakens the seeker to the spiritual ways of healing--the highest creative spirituality. By healing it is meant being made whole, which if you think about is total healing of every level of our being. By standing on the Healing Stone this realisation comes to us in all our senses of touch, scent sound, sight, awareness, and emotions. These qualities flow into the seeker and into the material world, nourishing all creation with the Essence of Spiritual healing that leads toward peace and harmony.
The healing properties join all creation into spiritual attunement, which flows throughout Eternity. Becoming aware and absorbing the qualities of the seventh stepping stone leads to the threshold of the Great Silence that opens the way of Spiritual Peace and Harmony and give us the feeling of Gratitude and opens the door to our Vibral core, the very centre of our being. Native people continually are grateful for the gifts that they receive. On a daily basis they thank the Creator for allowing them to part of something. Giving thanks to Father Sun, Grandmother Moon, The Earth Mother, The power of the directions, and all their relations. Gratitude has to be energised before healing (making whole) can take place.

So, we have travelled along the pathway of peace back to our real self and entered the Silence, our Vibral Core,Orenda.

In the Silence,
All Creation unites and communicates,
The Spiritual way,
Where life is pure, life is fulfilling,
Life is understanding, life is sharing,
Life is abundant, life is unity, and
Life is Eternity.
The ecstasy of Spiritual Enlightenment.

The seeker of peace and harmony can go to this place any time they wish to.All they have to do is step upon the seven stepping stones which can be likened to a process which relates to
Centering—Focusing—Entering—Becoming a “whole entity".
To Centre is the Motivation. To Focus is the Procedure. To Enter is the Action. To Become is the Achievement.

As the seekers return along the Pathway of Peace they are reminded of each stone in turn.
The seventh stone reveals Spiritual Healing,
The sixth stepping stone reveals Spiritual Charity,
The fifth stepping stone reveals Spiritual Insight,
The fourth stepping stone reveals Spiritual Awareness
The third stepping stone reveals Spiritual Cleansing,
The second stepping stone reveals Spiritual Love,
The first stepping stone reveals Spiritual Faith.

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY.

We continue our journey back to the self and our connection to the whole and reach the
sixth stepping stone on the pathway to peace

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
Help me today my Creator to be charitable in all the things I do. Help me to understand that if I do I will attract the things I need but not necessarily the things I think I want.

On our journey back to the self and on the Pathway to Peace we now step upon the Charity Stone, which glows in beautiful bursts of spiritual light. It plants the seed that awakens the seeker to the spiritual way of benevolence in thoughts and deeds, and beckons the seeker to dwell awhile, absorbing the qualities of the Charity stone. This stone has the same seven spiritual facets as the previous stones and standing on this stone imparts on the seeker a feeling charitable thoughts and deeds. Its radiance flows through the seeker and into the material world, nourishing it with acts of kindness and understanding. Its properties of charitable practices help unite all creation into the ways of spiritual harmony. It reminds the seeker that we can only feel peace and comfort if we realise we are not alone and we need to share our gifts with others. We have the power to attract the things in our lives that we need, but also have the power to repel and release the things we do not need. Knowing this enables the seeker to make beneficial plans and set realistic goals through the gift of sharing.

Is now the time to get off your butt and start sharing your gifts and talents with others?

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHERS PRAYER FOR TODAY

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator help me today to look behind the mask
Of my fears, doubts, and inhibitions and see the real beauty of my personal dream.

On our journey back to the self we have stepped upon the Blood, Sun, Water, and Fertility stones on the Pathway of Peace. We have absorbed into our being the qualities and gifts each has imparted to us. We now step confidently on the fifth stepping stone on the pathway of peace-- The Blossoming Stone that glows in radiant shades of coral pink. It plants a seed in the seeker in the spiritual ways of upliftment and insight. It has the same seven facets as all the other stones. As its radiance and qualities flow through the seeker and into the material world it offers to us that life is a daily venture of seeking upliftment and intuitive impulses and reminds us that each of us have A Personal Dream. This dream is connected to the Universal Dream of Peace. Each of us has a portion of this Universal Dream of Peace. Personal success and happiness is dependent on our connection to our dream. Unless we are aware of this connection we can have disappointments that can make our living hard to define. Our connection to our dream or vision helps us enter our own individual realm of creativity, wherein lies our ambition.
May you be your dream today?

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

As we continue our journey along the Pathway of Peace we now approach the fourth stepping stone.

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, today you showed me that growth only happens
when we appreciate ourselves for our connection to all that was, all that is, and all that will become. My Creator, thank you for allowing me to just BE.

The fourth stepping stone along the Pathway to Peace is the Fertility Stone. As we step upon it, it glows in radiant shades of green. It plants a seed that awakens all our seven spiritual senses of sound, sight, scent, taste, touch, awareness and emotions. The stone has seven facets, as do all the previous stones, allied to each one of these senses.
When we stand upon the fertility stone it is symbolic of life materialised in the physical world bringing to us the qualities of abundance and renewal. As these qualities enter the centre of our being we experience the feelings of appreciation. Appreciation nourishes our self-esteem, renewing the abundance we have been given and reminding us that we honour our own sacred space, as well as others and that we should be proud of what we are, what we were, and what we can become. We thank the ancestors and all our relations for offering their wisdom and encouragement so we can explore the abundance of life.

Grandfather's Prayer for Today-2nd Sept/o8

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY
Wise One, help me today to step forward today in faith, with love in my heart and a feeling of Kinship with all things

As we continue our journey of self-discovery we carry with us the qualities of the bloodstone with the comfortable feeling it imparted within us and become aware of the second stepping stone on the pathway to peace. The second stone is the Sun Stone. Take a deep breath and relax into the qualities of the Sun Stone which glows in radiant shades of yellow. It plants the seed in the seeker to the spiritual way of love, and beckons the seeker to dwell upon the Sun Stone
THIS SECOND STEPPING STONE also imparts the lessons of Kinship.within us. A Kinship with all things around us, in the Universe, and beyond, and a Kinship within ourselves. We are not alone; our spirit within supports us. We are part of the Great Mystery from which nothing is excluded. This feeling of Kinship sparks the inner flame of love, providing warmth and nourishment that supplements our every need.
The Sun Stone has the same seven facets that designate the powerful senses of sound, sight, scent, taste, touch, awareness, and feelings. Standing on the Sun Stone is symbolic of the life materialised in the physical world and is a daily venture in love. Its radiance of love flows throughout the seeker and into the material world. Faith and Love go hand in hand and teaches the feelings of Kinship. Faith and Love makes the world go around and enables the seeker to see the interconnection of all things and helps us all grow in peace and harmony.

GRANDFATHER PETER

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
Great One, help me to have faith that I need to feel comfortable in all I do today.

If we wish to start on our journey of self- discovery the place we have to begin is now and for the self. This is not selfish rather selfless and without a realisation that we have discover the self before we can hope to find the sacred connection and the true meaning of
"All for One, and One For All".
So let us begin on our journey and remind ourselves of the steps we have to take on the way. Let us imagine the journey is a series of stepping stones each with their own particular power that we need to integrate within and without ourselves so they become part of our very being.
Take some time today to relax, close your eyes and imagine you have approached a river, which you know you have to cross. Close by you is a series of stepping stones that stretch to the other side of the river that will enable you to cross the river.
THE FIRST STEPPING STONE is the Blood Stone and glows in radiant shades of red. It plants a seed in the seeker to the spiritual ways of faith and beckons the seeker to the first step on the journey of the self and to peace and harmony. The stone reminds us that not only do we have to have faith to make this journey but it is also the first step in learning to grow in harmony and is the feeling of comfort.
To be comfortable in all our senses of seeing, touching, hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling and being aware. Comfort can be likened to the feeling we have after eating a good meal, our senses are satisfied and we have an inner feeling of balance.
Stand on the Bloodstone and absorb the powers it imparts to you. Feel the colour red penetrate every cell in your being. The bloodstone has seven facets. Each facet designates one of the spiritual senses of sound, sight, scent, taste, touch, awareness, and emotions. Standing on the first stepping stone is symbolic of the life materialised in the physical world and is a daily venture in faith and comfort.
In absorbing the qualities of the bloodstone the seeker of truth learns that the Great Mystery, the Spiritual Essence, is connected with all things in creation and all things in creation are connected to one another. It is the impressions influenced by this interconnection that affect the experience in all creation.

Allow the radiance of the bloodstone to flow through you into the material world, uniting yourself and all creation into thoughts of faith and comfort.

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

Grandfather’s Prayer for Today.
Thank you, My Creator for the enlightenment you give to me at each dawning as I wake to great the new day.
---------------------------------------------
"Enlightenment" is not an object to be desired,it is not a goal to be achieved. And you will become enlightened onlywhen you have forgotten all about it,otherwise, never. And it is not a question to be asked.Even if I say you have become enlightened, that won't help. The very question shows that you still desire.Enlightenment has become your greed. You may have desired other things beforemoney, respectability, power, prestige; now you desire enlightenment. The desire has moved to a different object, but it has not changed. The desire is still the same and desire is the problem. To desire anything is to remain unenlightened.Enlightenment is your nature. It is not something to be achieved,it is already the case.~ OSHO ~

Are you Ready?

It is a month before the Autumn Equinox and Thanksgiving Time on or around the 23rd September. Now is a good time to start thinking about the real meaning of this time. Our ancestors who were close to the natural cycles of the year would start gearing up for this and preparing in their own ways for the important ceremony ahead. I am posting one way we today can take stock of our the past year and get ready for the year ahead. Although it is said we have to live in the moment we can make the moments ahead more realistic and attainable by some forward planning while still keeping an open mind about expecting the unexpected.
When we talk about the Medicine Wheel we should remember that Medicine means "Power", and Wheel means "Spiritual". Not spiritual in any religious sense but any place that is in balance and harmony as a wheel is. This Medicine Wheel or place of spiritual power can be anywhere you can be aware of the balance of the four directions, four elements, four seasons etc. it is just a place where one can be aware of the four directions around us from the perspective from our centre. So best of luck and I pray that each and everyone of us have a great year ahead.
GRANDFATHER PETER
DA NAHO AWEO (It has been said and it is as it should be)

Thanksgiving and give-away Ceremony around the Medicine Wheel.
We gather around the Medicine Wheel at this time sitting on our power spot or our birth moon position to contemplate and review all the things that have happened to us over the year past. We look at the things we have been given and achieved and give thanks for them. We look at the things that have not grown corn and be prepared to give them away, as we do not need to carry them with us into the coming year. With the gifts we have we now look at the things we need to carry forward to sustain us over the coming winter months and the things we need to achieve in the coming twelve months of the year.
Have four pieces of paper and write down on them in turn.

1 On the first piece of paper write the things you have achieved and been given and wish to give thanks for, from the year gone by.
Approach the centre of the wheel, the place of the Creator which will be adorned with the harvested fruits of the three sisters, corn beans and squash, and symbolically burn the sheet of paper. The smoke carries your prayers of gratitude to the Creator and the ash scatters to the four winds.

2. On the second piece of paper write down those thing you wish to give-away and have not grown corn over the past year. These can be things from many years’ back which you are now ready to give-away and you now feel ready at last to give them away. Approach the Creator( The Centre) position again, burn the paper and bury the ashes in Mother Earth around the Creator position.

3. On the third piece of paper write down those things you wish to carry forward with you and to work on in the coming winter months. Raise the paper to the sky and the Earth and to each of the four directions and put it safely away so you can refer to it any time over the winter.

4. On the last piece of paper write down those things you wish to achieve over the coming year and offer it to the four directions and the sky and earth and bury it under the West position in the Medicine Wheel. This piece of paper can be moved to each of the positions on the wheel representing the coming eight festivals, close to their relevant dates to be looked at and reviewed.

NOTE: It is said one should not make definite plans further than one year ahead just as the Natural World does. It relies on the seeds it plants in one year to carry it forward into the next year. We can all have an overall vision for future years but by planning and setting goals year by year it makes it more attainable

Grandfather's Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, help me find time today to be quiet and listen to voice within me, knowing also it is you talking to me.

Inside each of us is a voice. It is a quiet voice. It is a guiding voice. If we listen for it, it will guide us, and help us avoid disaster. It is especially active when we are afraid, when we are in doubt, when we are scared, when we need help, and when we get angry. If we are excited emotionally, it is hard to hear this voice. If we are angry, it's hard to hear this voice because it is usually quiet. The best thing we can do is to practice getting quiet. If we don't get quiet, there is another voice called the judge. It tells us to attack or say bad things to other people or to judge ourselves. This voice is loud and usually gets us into trouble.

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.

May I always show gratitude and remember the simple words the Creator gave to me
"Nyah Weh Swennio"

These simple words of greeting and gratitude, "Nyah Weh Swennio", are spoken in various ways but have the overlaying meaning of gratitude--"Thank You for being". "Thank you for being who you are, what you were, and what you will become", and "Thank you for being Healthy", are just a few. But they always give thanks for what you are and not
"WHAT IF"

WHAT IF . . . by Oriah Mountain Dreamer

WHAT IF it doesn't matter what you do but how you do whatever you do?
HOW WOULD this change what you choose to do with your life?

WHAT IF you could be more fully present and open-hearted working as a cashier in the corner store. Able to really see and be with the people who come into the store- than you are when you are striving to do what you hope or think will make a more important contribution to the world and the lives of those you love?
HOW WOULD this change how you want to spend your precious time on this earth?

WHAT IF your contribution to the world and the fulfillment of your own happiness is not dependent upon discovering a better method of prayer or technique of meditation.
Not dependent upon reading the right book or attending the right seminar, but upon really seeing and deeply appreciating yourself and the world as they are right now?
HOW WOULD this affect your search for spiritual development?

WHAT IF there is no need to change, no need to try and transform yourself into someone whom is more compassionate, more present, more loving or wise?
HOW WOULD this affect all the places in your life where you are endlessly trying to be better?

WHAT IF the task is simply to unfold, to become who you already are in your essential nature- gentle, compassionate and capable of living fully and passionately present?
HOW WOULD this effect how you feel when you wake up in the morning?

WHAT IF who you essentially are right now is all that you are ever going to be? HOW WOULD this effect how you feel about your future? WHAT IF the essence of who you are and always have been is enough?
HOW WOULD this effect how you see and feel about your past?

WHAT IF the question is not why am I so infrequently the person I really want to be, but why do I so infrequently want to be the person I really am?
HOW WOULD this change what you think you have to learn?

WHAT IF becoming who and what we truly are happens not through striving and trying but by recognising and receiving the people and places and practices that offer us the warmth of encouragement we need to unfold?
HOW WOULD this shape your choices about how to spend today?

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY
Many moons ago I received the call.
Today, may I never forget to listen?

THE CALLING OF A SHAMAN.

Innumerable examples from primitive societies show that the profession of a shaman was chosen in a special way.
In today's world we have a tendency to latch on to certain 'buzz words' and categorize them into our own way of thinking. We should be reminded at times about the true meaning of these words so we can avoid diluting the meaning and not 'bastardising the true intent and meaning.' Shaman is one classic example.
The calling of a shaman is a calling or more precisely, a divine selection. But how does that manifest itself to the prospective shaman? Often this occurs during a severe illness or trauma, which conveys to the sick person that the way of healing is to drop everything and follow the way of the shamans. Another way to the calling is that of a sudden vision in which a spirit appears to the chosen one, most likely the spirit of the person's ancestors or of a deceased shaman, who passes on the responsibility, and oftentimes work unfinished, of becoming a shaman. The call can be heard also in dreams, in which the candidate, in a trancelike state, experiences the entire path of apprenticeship up to the ritual of initiation. Others examples, are of people experiencing 'near death' experiences, which changes them forever. Others have been struck by lightning, which doesn't kill them, but their personal histories are erased, and their true mission is revealed. There are also examples of hereditary transmission of the position of shaman where it is kept in one family over centuries. But in all cases it changes the initiate’s life to one of service and personal responsibility not only to oneself but to one of cosmic responsibility.
Have you heard the whispers in the Wind today?

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
Today, My Creator may I enter in the realm of the remembering so I may hear the
Sacred Songs of the Ancestors.

Song of the Black Tailed Deer.

In the very beginning of life,
My life was that of the herb, I lived of the herb and the plant
and the trees and the roots,
But that life has gone.

Then my life was that of the buffalo.
I lived of the buffalo-sustained life for clothing,
for warmth in the winter and the spring.
In ceremonies and prayers,
My life is that of the buffalo,
But that life has gone.

My life is that of the white man.
I do things like the white man,
I talk like the white man,
I dress like the white man,
And that life has gone.
That life was in the world of materialism.
A new generation has come.

My life is that of the Black Tailed Deer.
I will go back to the top of the mountains;
There I will replenish myself.
I will come back with the morning star
To purify the waters,

I will return to the top of the mountain,
And at the end of time
I will replenish the earth.
I am the Black Tailed Deer.
A new nation made up of all colours of man
For all to see.
The Black tailed Deer is a Brown Deer after all!

My Creator, Help me to keep my dreams alive and kicking!
"We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let our dreams die, but others nourish and protect them, nurse them through bad days till they bring them to sunshine and light."

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, Help me today to live and walk in balance.
To attract to me the things I need and to challenge things I do not.

Balance is an elaboration that every thing is equal. We strive each day to live in balance for this is a law that supersedes any manmade law, thereby creating stability. Like the scales of justice or a pendulum, it is always trying to find its middle point of balance and stability, but by reaching a maximum shift in one direction it will inevitably swing back the other way, passing through the point of balance. Each thought or action must be balanced by whoever creates it. Allow no one to tell you what your earth walk must reflect or what your reality is. Do not give your power away so easily, but give your love unconditionally. Any message communicated in love and with compassion validates balance and equality.
Low self-esteem is just as non-productive as a puffed up sense of self-esteem and” know it all” attitudes. They both deny equality. All addictions are a manifestation of inequality.
But in saying this we also have a right to challenge by asking of another their intent, identity, and whatever pertinent information we feel we require when encountering another. This is true not only of physical beings but especially important to those entities we encounter in other realms. Those who come to us in the role of information givers don't mind being challenged, in fact welcome it for they know any information they may give is given in truth and based on Sacred Laws.
Do you have the courage to challenge yours or another's intent today?

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, you have taught me to give honour and respect to myself and acknowledge my right to be. But you also taught me that I am nothing if I do not give equal acknowledgement to:
THE WOMAN, THE CHILDREN, THE FAMILY, THE COMMUNITY, MOTHER EARTH, and that all are part of the great gift you have given to us all.
May we all live by the seven principles of Life
.

Philosophy TO MYSELF
I will think about what kind of person I want to be when I am an Elder.
I will start developing myself now to be this person.
I will walk with the Great Spirit and the ancestors at my side.
I will develop myself to remain positive. I will develop a good mind.
I will examine myself daily to see what I did well and what I need to improve
I will examine my strength and weaknesses, and then I will ask the Creator to guide me.
I will develop a good mind.
I will listen to the Creators voice in the wind as I walk the red path every day.
I will watch nature and ask to be shown a lesson, which will occur, on my path.
I will seek out the guiding principles, which guided my ancestors.
I will walk in dignity, honour and humility, conducting myself with dignity and as a proud member of the human family.
I will seek the guidance of the Elders, and the experienced ones, so that I may maintain the knowledge of all cultures, ceremonies, and songs, so that I may pass these on to the future generations.
I choose to do all these things myself, because no one else can do them for me.
I know I cannot give away what I do not have so I will need to walk the talk.

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator today I thank you for always being by my side.
I thank you for supporting me in the lessons learned and yet to be learned. But more than anything I thank you for allowing me to be!

Philosophy To the CREATOR
As a members of the human family, We must realise we make no gains without the Great Spirit being in our lives. We shall realise what we do or attempt to do will not work without the Creator. Being human and being spiritual has the same meaning. Spirituality is a gift from the Great One. This day, We will vow to walk the Red Road. As human, we will return to the traditional and spiritual values, which have guided my ancestors for the past generations.
We will look with new eyes on the powers of all ceremonies and religious ways, for they are important to the very survival of the people.
We have survived and are going to grow and flourish spiritually. We will fulfil our teachings and the purpose that the Creator has given us with dignity.
Each day, we will pray and ask for guidance. We will commit to walk the Red Road, or whatever the spiritual way is called in my own culture.
If I am Christian or from any other belief I will honour myself and all other beliefs. If I am traditional, I will walk this road with dedication.
If each if us can do these things then others will follow. From this day forward, We will reserve time and energy for spirituality, seeking to know the Creators will.

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY
My Creator, I thank you for the legends the ones who have gone before have given us. For in them I find how I should endeavour to live my life today!

Cherokee Legend of Crystals

In ancient times, people lived in harmony with Nature. They spoke the same language as the animals and plants. They hunted for food only to satisfy their hunger and needs, always offering a prayer of thanks for what they had taken from Nature. As time went on, humans lost this innocence and harmony. They took more than they needed. They forgot their prayers of gratitude. They killed animals, and each other, for sport or pleasure. The Bear Tribe, chief among the animals, called a meeting of all the animals. They decided that something had to be done. The Bears suggested that they shoot back when the humans shot at them, but the bow and arrow required too great a sacrifice, for one bear would have to give up his life so that his sinew could be used for the bowstring. The bear's claws were too long for shooting a bow anyway, and would become entangled on the string. The Deer Tribe offered another method of dealing with the problem. One of their members said, "We will bring disease into the world. Each of us will be responsible for a different illness. When humans live out of balance with Nature, when they forget to give thanks for their food, they will get sick." And in fact the Deer did invoke rheumatism and arthritis; each animal then decided to invoke a different disease. The Plant Tribe was more sympathetic and felt that this was too harsh a punishment, so they volunteered their help. They said that for every disease a human gets, one of them would be present to cure it. That way, if people used their intelligence, they would be able to cure their ailments and regain their balance. All of Nature agreed to this strategy. One plant in particular spoke out. This was Tobacco, the chief of the plants. He said, "I will be the sacred herb. I will not cure any specific disease, but I will help people return to the sacred way of life, provided I am smoked or offered with prayers and ceremony. But if I am misused, if I am merely smoked for pleasure, I will cause cancer, the worst disease of all." The close friends of the Plant Tribe, the Rock Tribe and the Mineral Tribe, agreed to help. Each mineral would have a spiritual power, a subtle vibration that could be used to regain perfect health. The Ruby, worn as an amulet, would heal the heart; the Emerald would heal the liver and eyes, and so on. The chief of the mineral tribe, Quartz Crystal, was clear, like the light of Creation itself. Quartz put his arms around his brother Tobacco and said, "I will be the sacred mineral. I will heal the mind. I will help human beings see the origin of disease. I will help to bring wisdom and clarity in dreams. And I will record their spiritual history, including our meeting today, so that in the future, if humans gaze into me, they may see their origin and the way of harmony." And so it is today.

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, help me never to take my family for granted and always be there for them.
TO THE FAMILY
The Creator gave to us the family, which is the place where all teachings are handed down from the grandparent, to the parent, and to the child. The children's behaviour is a mirror of the parent's behaviour. Knowing this, we should realise the importance for each person to build a strong and balanced family. By doing this, we can break the cycle of hurt and ensure the positive and mental health of the children, even the children yet to be born. So from now on:
Let us dedicate our priorities to rebuilding our families where needed..
We must never give up and leave our family only to one parent.
We must always be accountable to restore the strength of the family. To do this, we must nurture our family's spiritual, cultural, and social health. Let us demonstrate trust, respect, honour and discipline; but mostly we must be consistent in whatever we do with them.
We must see that the grandparents and the Elders play a significant role in the education of the children.
Let us realise that the male and female together are fundamental to family life. We must listen to our mates' council for our family's benefit, as well as for the benefit of our culture and heritage and to all our extended family throughout the world.
Have you told the family that you love them today?

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
My Creator, I pray today for the security, peace, and happiness in my home and in the community where I live.
TO THE COMMUNITY
Communities should provide many things for the family. The most important is the sense of belonging; that is, to belong to "the people", and to have a place to go. Our communities need to be restored to health so the future generation will be guaranteed a place to go for culture, language and socializing In the community, the honour of one is the honour of all and the pain of one is the pain of all. We must work to strengthen recovery in all parts of our communities, wherever we are living.
As concerned human beings we should make an effort to give back to our community by donating our time and talents when we are able.
We should cultivate friendships with others for mutual support and strength.
We must consider the effects of our decisions on behalf of the next seven generations; in this way, our children and grandchildren will inherit healthy communities.
We should care about those in our community so that the mind changers, alcohol and drugs, will vanish, and our communities will forever be free of violence. If each of us can do all these things, then others will follow; ours will be a proud community.
Have you smiled at your neighbour recently?

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
Today my Creator I pray that all men
will respect and honour the Women and the feminine principle in all things.

Philosophy TO THE WOMEN and all things Feminine.
The cycle of life for the woman is the baby, girl, woman, and grandmother. These are the four directions of life. She has been given by the natural laws, the ability to reproduce life. The most sacred of all things is life. Therefore, all men should treat her with dignity and respect. Never should we harm her mentally or physically. Men should never be abusers. We must treat our women with respect and understanding.

So from now on: I will treat women in a sacred manner. The Creator gave women the responsibility for bringing new life into the world. Life is sacred, so I will look upon the women in a sacred manner.

In traditional ways, the woman is the foundation of the family. I will work with her to create a home atmosphere of respect, security and harmony.
I will refrain from any form of emotional or physical abuse. If I have these feelings, I will talk to the Creator for guidance. I will treat all women as if they were my own female relatives. This is my vow.

Prayer for Today

GRANDFATHER'S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
It is said what
we do cannot be undone.
May we always remember what we do today does not only
affect ourselves and our children but seven generations to
come.

Philosophy TO THE CHILDREN
As an eagle prepares its young to leave the nest will all the skills and knowledge it needs to participate in life, in the same manner so will I guide my children. I will use the best from my culture to prepare them for life.
The most important thing I can give to my children is my time. I will spend time with them in order to learn from them and to listen to them.
I will teach my children to pray, as well as the importance of respect.
We are the caretakers of the children for the Creator. They are His children, not ours.
I am proud of my heritage. I will learn it if I can and help my children to learn it. In today's world it is easy for the children to go astray, so I will work to provide positive alternatives for them.
I will teach them the culture. I will encourage education. I will encourage sports. I will encourage them to talk to the Elders for guidance; but mostly, I will seek to be a role model myself.
I make this commitment to my children so they will have courage and find guidance through my traditional ways, but at the same time teach them to respect others ways of living.

Summer Solstice(Northern Hemisphere)

THE SUMMER SOLSTICE
21st JUNE
The Festival of the North
N
SUMMER SOLSTICE

Together with the growing light we travel another month and a half around the Sun, and on the longest day of the year we celebrate the Summer Solstice. It is the Festival of the north, because there is no night in the north of the Earth and the Sun will be shining for twenty four hours. Here the secret of the Sun is revealed and says to us “Behold, as you see me now, throughout the round of night and day, so I am with you always, even if you cannot see me." The light of the Great Father shines in all its brilliance and energises us with his masculine power. In the light of the summer sun everything comes to blossom. The highest point of the Sun fills us with the power of the animal spirits. The North is the place of the animals on the Shamanic Medicine Wheel, and at this time our animal allies and totems come to us with all their power. They help us to enlighten our heart so we can set our inner animal free so that its instinct, its clarity of action and knowledge may take hold in our minds. Our Ancestors symbolically lit bonfires at this time that burnt day and night, symbolising the Sun burning all day and night in the North. The fires helped and can help us purify ourselves by thrusting our false thinking into the flames. Through this purification our Higher Self bursts from its cocoon of Lower Self and shines in the centre of the Heavens like the Pole Star in which all knowledge, logic and power of mind are integrated.
We start to respect ourselves and the role of others; if we call upon the sacred four and fourteen for help-- they talk to us directly on this day. We can throw of our ego and unite with our animal nature and our ally in the realm of the animals, who will give us guidance and direction during the upcoming descent into the dankness. For in the ensuring days ahead our Great father Sun will leave his lofty throne and begin his descent into the depth of the dark realm. Thus, at the Sun's highest point, we are celebrating also the reappearance of darkness.

grandfather's prayer for today

GRANDFATHER’S PRAYER FOR TODAY.
Great Mystery help us to share in the prayers we send to you.
Great Mystery help us to understand the prayers we send to you.
Great Mystery help us to live by the prayers we send to you.

Great Spirit
Great Spirit, give us hearts to understand;Never to take from creation's beauty more than we give;Never to destroy wantonly for the furtherance of greed;Never to deny to give our hands for the building of earth's beauty;Never to take from her what we cannot use.
Give us hearts to understandThat to destroy earth's music is to create confusion; That to wreck her appearance is to blind us to beauty; That to callously pollute her fragrance is to make a house of stench; That as we care for her she will care for us.
We have forgotten who we are.We have sought only our own security. We have exploited simply for our own ends.We have distorted our knowledge. We have abused our power.
Great Spirit, whose dry lands thirst, help us to find the way to refresh your lands.
Great Spirit, whose waters are choked with debris and pollution, help us to find the way to cleanse your waters.
Great Spirit, whose beautiful earth grows ugly with mis-use,help us to find the way to restore beauty to your handiwork.
Great Spirit, whose creatures are being destroyed, help us to find a way to replenish them.
Great Spirit, whose gifts to us are being lostin selfishness and corruption, help us to find the way to restore our humanity.
